EAGR Lab - Ongoing Research

EAGR stands for Evolutionary and Genomic Research. We study the variation in health-relevant traits such as aging and immune defense.

MICROBIOMEPROJECT

The microbiome project is interested in studying the relationship between aging and the microbiome in the model organism, Drosophila melanogaster. The microbiome, or community of microbes, found within an organism affects its fitness, influencing traits such as immune defense, nutrient processing, and consequently longevity.By utilizing populations that biologically age at different rates, we may be able to provide valuable insight on the relationship between microbiomes and host-longevity.
